Are these old deinterlacing options somehow married into the current 'Resize Filter' or 'Retiming Quality' options? One recent compressor tutorials seems to imply that the Resize Filter settings (if resizing the interlace at the same time/pass) directly affect the quality of the deinterlace process. My initial results look good (I used a single multi-instruction single pass in Compressor), but I have the following questions:ġ) Is there anyway to control the 'quality' of the deinterlace operation in the latest Compressor 4.5.x? In older versions, there was a detailed 'frame controls' area that included a deinterlace section that gave the user the option to select (fast, better, best) quality, but Compressor 4.5.x currently only has a progressive 'Field Order' pulldown. Yes, I know its best to keep my captures interlaced files as dv throughout my workflow until final display in a file player and yes, I could edit interlaced dv in Final Cut (don't have it) or edit interlaced dv in an older iMovieHD (doesn't support pro res) - but, for my application today, I want a 1280x720p upsized progressive pro res master file to use as my edit master in current iMovie. Background: I have old unedited iMovieHD captures (1394 firewire) interlaced (.dv) DVstream (720x480) files that I want to transcode to pro res 422, deinterlace and upsize to (1280x720) progressive (in Compressor 4.5.x) for further edit in the latest mac iMovie NLE (which currently only supports/edits/exports progressive High Def 720p footage (and up) natively in pro res I believe). Ok folks, I'm stumped on a few compressor concepts and hope I can get clear answers.
